The 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi made history in the ongoing IPL 2025, becoming the youngest player to play in the tournament, and he announced his arrival in style with the Rajasthan Royals. Vaibhav Suryavanshi didn’t waste a moment, smashing a six off the very first ball he faced.
The teenage sensation’s fearless batting stunned everyone as he scored a brisk 34 off just 20 balls in his debut match in the IPL and instantly became the talk of the town. However, Suryavanshi failed to deliver in his second innings, scoring 16 runs off 12 balls against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, but his raw power and fearless attitude left a lasting impact on fans and cricket experts.
Michael Vaughan predicts a glorious future for Vaibhav Suryavanshi
Fans and cricket pundits are completely in awe of the youngster's talent, strength, and the ease with which he clears the boundaries at such a young age in a highly competitive tournament like the IPL. Now, former England captain Michael Vaughan said that India already has a future superstar on their hands in the form of Suryavanshi.
The Englishman predicted that Suryavanshi could rule the cricket world in the years to come while recalling his 58-ball 100 against Australia in the Under-19 cricket. Vaughan was stunned by the teenager’s strength and clean hitting, saying he never managed shots like that even at his peak.

He's going to be around for a long time: Michael Vaughan
Michael Vaughan said on the Club Prairie Fire podcast, “He's obviously been mentioned for a while now. He's going to be around for a long time, isn't he? I'd love to know what the feed is in him. He's a big lad. He's strong. That first ball went over extra cover for six. I wasn't hitting sixes when I was in my prime at 25. He's scrolling out there and striking him into the stands as a 14-year-old.”
However, the real challenge for Vaibhav Suryavanshi will be handling the massive attention and expectations now falling on his shoulders, and Vaughan hopes he will get the right guidance. He believes that with the right guidance and support, Suryavanshi could become one of India's biggest cricket icons.
India will be managing him very quickly: Michael Vaughan on Vaibhav Suryavanshi
The former England captain further noted, “Yeah, I'll be very intrigued to see how his journey goes, because the spotlight and the profile and the pressure that'll come from obviously that first innings is going to be immense. So hopefully he's got some good people around him. He can be wisely advised, and he can get some of those.”
Vaughan believes India will soon take full control of Suryavanshi’s career to guide him the right way. With so much attention already on the young star, the Englishman feels the experienced Indian management will play a key role in helping him handle the pressure and stay on track.
He signed off by saying, “I'm sure, obviously, India will be managing him very quickly, if they're not already, and someone with experienced core management can give him some good advice because it's not going to be easy because of the profile that he's going to have.”
