Sir Andrew Strauss lavished rich praise on debutant Gus Atkinson for his impressive performance with the ball in the ongoing Test between England and West Indies. He said that the the fast bowler has got some X-Factor about him and has a great future.

In James Anderson's last Test for the England National Cricket Team, the team has found another gem in Gus Atkinson. The fast bowler, who made his debut in the ongoing Test against West Indies, was highly impressive as he ran through the opposition's batting lineup.

Gus Atkinson came up with a dream performance on his debut as he bowled impeccable lines and lengths and troubled the West Indies batters big time. He seemed unplayable on the pitch at the Lord's Cricket Ground as he bowled fast and was accurate with his bowling making life tough for West Indies batters.

Gus Atkinson picked a seven-wicket haul on his debut for England. He overshadowed James Anderson and Chris Woakes, which speaks a lot about his performances. The pacer returned with the figures of 7/45 and his spell saw the team bundling out opposition for just 121 runs. Apart from him, Anderson, Woakes and skipper Ben Stokes bagged one wicket each.

While talking about Gus Atkinson's sensational bowling, Andrew Strauss was in awe of the way the fast bowler handled himself. He pointed out how he casually clocked 90 miles an hour and said that he looked different from other bowlers. Speaking to Sky Sports, he explained:

"What a day and the start of a Test career while another one is finishing and that's the poetry and the symmetry of it all. The game of cricket never sits still and it was very impressive just watching how he dealt with the occasion but also he's got some x-factor about him, hasn't he?

"It was almost effortless pace up at around 90 miles an hour, looked in control of his emotions but also you could see he was asking a lot of questions of the opposition. He was sort of noticeably different to the other English bowlers today so a very impressive start all round."

England couldn't have written a better script today - Andrew Strauss

Andrew Strauss talked about the performance of the England team and said they struggled earlier on but since the moment Gus Atkinson was on, it has been a different game. Further talking about the same, he explained:

"No, exactly. I mean England would have been hoping to catch the West Indians cold today and they were able to do that. The first 40 minutes or so weren't brilliant actually.

"I think we didn't get our lengths quite right there but from that moment on it's been all England and of course a real struggle now for the West Indian bowlers to get themselves back in the game with Root and Brook both batting exceptionally fluently at the end of the day there as well," he concluded.
