Former India opener Wasim Jaffer roasted former England captain Kevin Pietersen for his “India defeated England B” jibe after the home side decimated the visitors by 317 runs on day 4 of the second Test match which was played in Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium.

England had come into this match on the back of a 227-run win in the first Test over India. However, the Indian team turned the tables on the England team as Virat Kohli won the toss and chose to bat first. India posted 329 runs with Rohit Sharma making 161 and Rishabh Pant and Ajinkya Rahane making half-centuries.

Then Ravichandran Ashwin got into the act and picked 5/43, helping India rout England for 134 runs in the first innings and giving India a lead of 195 runs. Ashwin then starred with the bat as well scoring a sublime 106, aiding Virat Kohli, who made 62 in setting up a target of 482 runs for England to chase on a square turner.

However, there was not to be any fight from the visitors as debutant Axar Patel claimed 5/60 and Ravichandran Ashwin picked three more wickets, folding England up for 164 runs and winning the match for India by 317 runs. Ravi Ashwin was also named the Player of the Match for his all-round showing in front of his home crowd.

It Was An England B Team Without A Player From South Africa: Wasim Jaffer Trolls Kevin Pietersen

Kevin Pietersen has been tweeting in Hindi for the past few months especially after India defeated Australia 2-1 in their own backyard to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the second straight time. Pietersen gained a few Indian cricket fans as followers as well with his Hindi tweets, but his latest ones have been on the edge of taking a dig at the Indian team.

After India won the second Test of the four-match series, Pietersen tweeted, “Badhai ho India, England B Ko harane ke liye.”

The former England captain was implying that without James Anderson Jos Buttler and Jofra Archer, India had defeated a second-string England side.

Anderson and Buttler were rested from this Test match, with Buttler going back to England for a break, while Archer had suffered an injury to his right elbow and was ruled out of the second Test match. England had brought in Olly Stone and Stuart Broad, while Ben Foakes came in as the wicketkeeper.

Kevin Pietersen’s tweet led to Indian fans taking a dig at the former cricketer, but the best burn came from Wasim Jaffer, who said that it was indeed a second-string team, given that there was no player of South African origin in the playing XI. This was a dig at Pietersen’s South African heritage and for England fielding players born in foreign countries a lot.

Jaffer tweeted, “Don’t troll KP guys. He’s just trying to be funny. And I get it. I mean is it even a full-strength England team if there are no players from SA? #INDvsENG”
