Former Indian cricketers Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni share a nearly unbreakable bond. MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina have shared some of the most memorable partnerships in international cricket and the IPL. Their friendship remains intact even now. The southpaw remains dedicated to Dhoni to the point of wanting to win IPL 2021 for the Chennai Super Kings’ captain.

Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni have been the heart of Chennai Super Kings since 2008, having played an instrumental role in their dominance and lifting the trophy twice. Dhoni’s brilliant tactics coupled with Raina’s fielding and dynamic batting have worked exceptionally well for the franchise over the years.

The iconic pair had also been integral in turning the three-time champions’ fortunes after a horror season in 2020. The Super Kings failed to make it to the playoffs for the first time in history and MS Dhoni’s captaincy came under question. But the keeper-batsman followed up by leading a remarkable comeback in 2021. The yellow army finished the first half of IPL 2021 in the second spot, winning five of their seven games.

I think the way we were playing this year, we were having some extra confidence from his captaincy: Suresh Raina

Suresh Raina feels that with IPL 2021 moving to the UAE, they can win the title for MS Dhoni again. The 34-year old revealed they had extra confidence in the 40-year old’s captaincy as he enjoyed everyone’s success, giving freedom to players like Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, Dwayne Bravo and Ruturaj Gaikwad. Hence, he wishes to win the title for Dhoni.

“Hopefully, when we go to Dubai, we will have a camp and we can again win it for him. I think the way we were playing this year, we were having some extra confidence from his captaincy and he was enjoying each other’s success. He was giving freedom to all the players and having Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, Dwayne Bravo and Ruturaj in the side, we had the momentum. Hopefully, we can do it again this year for MS,” Raina told Star Sports.
