England all-rounder Jamie Overton has been ruled out of the remaining two ODIs of the ongoing three-match ODI series and the upcoming three-match T20I series against the West Indies after breaking his right little finger in the first ODI at Edgbaston.
Jamie Overton will now go through a rehab program with the England medical team. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said that they will not name Overton’s replacement for the remaining ODIs against the West Indies.

The ECB said in a media release, “England and Surrey all-rounder Jamie Overton has been ruled out of the remaining Metro Bank One-Day Internationals and the Vitality IT20s against the West Indies due to a broken right little finger.
Overton sustained the injury during England’s first Metro Bank ODI victory at Edgbaston on Thursday. He will now undergo a period of rehabilitation under the supervision of the England medical team. No replacement will be added to the ODI squad.”
England aim to clinch ODI series in Cardiff against West Indies
Meanwhile, England and the West Indies are all set to face off in the second ODI of the three-match series on Sunday, June 1, at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff. After a dominant 238-run win in the first match at Edgbaston, England comes into this game as clear favorites with a 1-0 lead in the series.
The second ODI between England and the West Indies at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff will be the only day game of the series. The hosts will look to continue their strong form against the West Indies at home. They have a deep batting lineup and bowlers well-suited to conditions, making them favorites to take a 2-0 lead in the ongoing ODI series.
Recently, Jasprit Bumrah hailed England’s ultra-aggressive ‘Bazball’ approach and said, “They’re playing an interesting style of cricket, which is interesting because I don’t really understand it too much.”

Cardiff pitch promises fireworks in ENG-WI 2nd ODI
For the West Indies, their bowlers like Alzarri Joseph and Jayden Seales showed promise, but the batters will need to step up to stand a chance. Experienced players like Shai Hope and Brandon King must anchor the innings better on a good batting surface.
England and the West Indies have faced each other 109 times. They lead the head-to-head record with 55 wins, while the West Indies have won 48 games. Six matches have ended with no result.
The pitch at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff usually helps batters, but fast bowlers can also get some movement early on. Spinners might find it tough, but the big side boundaries could work in their favor. Batters will likely focus on playing straight and timing their shots in the ‘V’ to score well.
It is a day game, and the team winning the toss might choose to bat first, as the pitch could slow down later in the match.
