Huge blow for India! Shreyas Iyer suffers injury scare ahead of England Tests

Indian cricket team batsman Shreyas Iyer was hit on his right forearm while he was practicing with the team in Hyderabad ahead of the first Test match against England. After the injury, Iyer walked off the field and didn’t come out to bat. Iyer is a very important player for the Indian cricket team at number 4 and 5, however, the status of his injury is not yet revealed.

Shreyas Iyer missed the major of 2023 due to his back injury and had been away from international cricket for almost 5 months. Iyer didn’t play the IPL 2023 and the West Indies tour after the cash-rich league.

After Shreyas Iyer was hit on his right hand, after a short break he came back and began to practice once again in the nets. These are good signs for the Indian team as his presence in the series is very important for the Rohit Sharma led side.

Shreyas Iyer wasn’t in great form during the last Test series against South Africa. Iyer was only able to score 41 runs from 2 Test matches. Iyer was dismissed cheaply in both games, but he played some good shots during his 31-run innings in the first Test match in Centurion.

Shreyas Iyer played some brilliant innings during the ODI World Cup 2023 and scored 530 runs from 11 matches with a total of 2 hundreds and 3 half centuries. His highest score was 128* and his average was 66.25. Iyer also made a brilliant comeback in international cricket and smashed a century against Australia ahead of the ODI World Cup. Shreyas also hit centuries against Netherlands and New Zealand, which played an important role for India to reach the final.

Shreyas Iyer has played a total of 12 Tesr matches for India and has scored 707 runs at an average of 39.27. He has scored one hundred and 5 half centuries.

Returing to the IND vs ENG Test series, is very important from the perspective of the World Test Championship 2023-25. England would be led by Ben Stokes, under whom England have been brilliant in the red ball format. England have not lost a single Test series under Stokes and have been playing a different brand of cricket.

India on the other hand, have been playing brilliant cricket from the past few years. India have played two finals of the World Test Championship and have lost against New Zealand and Australia. However, India are the number one ranked side in Test cricket and displayed a decent performance against South Africa wherein they were able to level the two match series by 1-1. India also registered their first Test win at the Sahara Park Newlands in Cape Town.
