Former Australian pacer Glenn McGrath has heaped high praise on Indian superstar Jasprit Bumrah after he and his fellow bowlers did the demolition job at the expense of the Aussie batting-unit in the Boxing Day Test.

Having already lost two of their strike bowlers, India desperately needed Jasprit Bumrah to rise to the occasion at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, and boy, didn’t he do that with disdain?

Bumrah led the way for the Men in Blue in Melbourne- as did Ravichandran Ashwin- as he claimed a total of six wickets across two innings including the prized scalp of Steve Smith in the second innings, who had his stumps knocked over behind his legs.

Bumrah has enjoyed bowling in Australia thus far. The right-hander was the leading wicket-taker in India’s 2018/19 triumph Down Under and is in the midst of yet another fruitful rubber.

And, it seems like, he has earned himself a fan in the legendary Glenn McGrath.

“You can’t take anything away from Indian bowlers. The way Jasprit Bumrah has bowled this series has been amazing. I am a big fan of Bumrah, I have spoken to him a few times and I liked the way he thinks and the way he goes about it.” Glenn McGrath told PTI.

McGrath heaped high praise on Jasprit Bumrah as well as Mohammed Siraj for the lines with which they targeted the Australians in  Melbourne, adding that the duo did not get carried away with the short-pitch stuff.

”He (Bumrah) quite enjoys bowling in Australian conditions. A Mohammed Siraj coming in, I just think they bowled very good lengths, sometimes you can get carried away with the bounce in Australia and bowl too short, but they have bowled good lengths,” he added.
