England opener Jason Roy confirmed that he isn’t walking away from the England and Wales Cricket Board’s (ECB) central contract to play in Major League Cricket (MLC) this summer. Jason Roy stated that representing the England team is his top priority and that he hopes to play for many more years.
Earlier, the Daily Mail reported that Jason Roy was offered a two-year contract worth £300,000 by the Los Angeles Knight Riders franchise. The report further added that Roy will play in the US MLC tournament despite his place being in jeopardy for the upcoming ODI World Cup in India later this year.

The ECB Were Happy With Me – Jason Roy
Jason Roy took to Twitter to deny the rumours of his leaving his central contract and stated that he has a strong relationship with the board.
“Following a bit of unwanted speculation over the last 24 hours, I wanted to clarify that I am not and never ‘will walk away from England’. Representing my country continues to be my proudest moment as a professional cricketer. I hope to play for England for many more years, that remains my priority,” said Roy.
“I’ve had clear and supportive conversations with the ECB about participating in Major League Cricket. The ECB were happy with me to play in the competition as long as they didn’t have to pay me for the remainder of the contractual year,” Roy added.

My Priority Is England Cricket – Jason Roy
Jason Roy stated that he wants to keep him in the scheme of things for the selection for the World Cup. The 32-year-old said that there were no conflicts in the scheduling with England over playing in the MLC tournament.
“As a single format player with no central contract I wanted to take the opportunity to play this competition as there are currently no scheduling conflicts with England,” he further stated.
