Former Indian cricketer, Irfan Pathan’s wife Safa Baig has come in defence of her husband after a controversy broke out when she posted a photo of herself with her son and husband on her son’s Instagram account.

Sara Baig, who manages the Instagram account of his son, had chosen to blur her face. Many people objected and blamed Irfan Pathan for the same.

However, Irfan had then taken to his Twitter account to lambast his detractors where he asserted that it was his wife’s choice to blur her face and that he is her mate, not her master.

“This picture is posted by my queen from my son’s account. We are getting lot of hate. Let me post this here as well. She blurred this pic by her choice. And Yes, I’m her mate not her master;). #herlifeherchoice” wrote Irfan Pathan.

Now, Safa Baig has come in defence of her husband.

During an interview with the Times of India, Baig said that she handles her son’s Instagram account to post pictures so that he can realize all the memories when he grows up.

Baig stated that she had blurred her face out of voice and that Irfan Pathan had no role to play in it whatsoever.

“I had created an Instagram account for Imran and I post stuff there so that he can look back at some lovely memories once he grows up. I handle this account and for this particular photograph, I had blurred my face out of choice. It was completely my decision and Irfan had absolutely nothing to do with it,” said Safa Baig.

“I never thought that posting a harmless family photograph would create a needless controversy like this. I am a very private person and I never like to be the centre of attraction. Even when Irfan gets papped, I immediately move away,” she stated.

Irfan Pathan further responded by saying-

“Such trolling has been happening for a while now. Initially, it used to surprise me but now, I am used to it. What the trolls don’t realise is that I have followers in other countries too and at the end of the day, it creates a bad impression about our country. I will not stop living my life because of what trolls have to say. Honestly, mujhe trolling se ek percentt bhi fark nahi padta. I have always believed that love is stronger than hate and I am blessed to have so many followers who shower their love on social media. So, these people who only spread hate don’t matter. When trolls use bad language and abuse others, it’s a reflection of their mindset and the kind of human beings they are.”

Irfan Pathan, who retired from international cricket in early 2020, married the Saudi Arabia-born Safa Baig in 2016 and they are blessed with a five-year-old baby boy, Imran.
