Young left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh shared insights into his mindset during the final over in the fifth and final T20I match against Australia. Arshdeep Singh mentioned that a conversation with skipper Suryakumar Yadav helped him contribute to the national team’s victory.

The India team secured a six-run victory in the final match at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday, December 3. The hosts posted a total of 160/8 after being asked to bat first. In response, they restricted the opposition team to 154/8 in 20 overs.

Just Wanted To Execute My Plans – Arshdeep Singh

Speaking after the match, Arshdeep Singh stated that he focused on executing his plans without any fear. Arshdeep said that Suryakumar agreed to approach the situation with a positive mindset despite conceding runs earlier.

“There was nothing going on in my mind, I just wanted to execute my plans. I had nothing to lose,” Arshdeep told reporters.

“I have had the word with Surya bhai as well and he said we will see whatever happens. I had nothing to lose, I can only win the match as I had already conceded so many runs,” he added.

“The belief was there. I backed my strength and had a gut feeling that I must bowl a bouncer first up. It put doubts in Wade’s mind and when we got his wicket, there was assured that now we have won the match.”

The 24-year-old showcased remarkable composure in the final over, despite conceding 37 runs in his initial three overs. The pacer gave away only three runs when the opposition needed 10 for victory. He guided the team to victory, securing a 4-1 series win.

Spinners Have Bowled Really Well – Arshdeep Singh

Arshdeep Singh credited India’s series win to the spin duo of Ravi Bishnoi and Axar Patel. Arshdeep praised both spinners for maintaining a good economy rate and taking wickets, especially considering the batting-friendly pitches in the first four matches.

“Credit goes to the spinners. They have bowled really well throughout the series. The first four matches were played on the batting friendly pitches but there also they have kept the economy rate under six and kept on taking the regular wickets. A lot of credit goes to Axar Patel and Ravi Bishnoi,” Arshdeep further stated.

Ravi Bishnoi earned the Player of the Series title for consistently performing well, securing the highest wicket count with nine. Axar Patel provided strong support with six scalps in five games and an impressive economy rate of 6.20 runs per over.
