Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav has not been in the best of the forms in the last two years or so. In fact, most recently, Kuldeep Yadav has failed to enter in India’s playing eleven and Kolkata Knight Riders’ due to inconsistent performances. The left-arm wrist-spinner believes that performances in IPL and Sri Lanka could get him a spot in the T20 World Cup.

In his most recent performance for India, Kuldeep Yadav was one of the most expensive bowlers. It transpired against England in Pune when the Kanpur-born cricketer conceded 84 in ten overs without a wicket as the tourists chased down 337 successfully within 50 overs. Yadav’s mediocre international outings have meant that he has not been able to nail a place in Kolkata Knight Riders’ playing XI either.

Kuldeep Yadav underlined that as far as T20 cricket is concerned, nothing less than a good performance matters. The 26-year old believes that an excellent show in the UAE leg of the IPL and Sri Lanka should put him back in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup.

“For T20, nothing more than performance matters if you have to make space for yourself in the team. There is the Sri Lanka tour and the IPL, it will all be very important for me. I hope that I perform well to take my place in the team. If I perform well in both the tournaments then hopefully, I’ll get a place in the T20 World Cup team,” Yadav told ANI.

We have not played much cricket together after the 2019 World Cup: Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav highlighted that since he and Yuzvendra Chahal are attacking bowlers and always aim to get wickets, it’s good to bowl with him. The leggie revealed that they have not played together much after the 2019 World Cup as it was down to the team combination most of the time. With Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja in the mix consistently, only either one of them has received a chance.

“It is always nice to bowl in tandem with Chahal. We both bowl with the same mindset, we were always attacking and looking to take wickets. We have not played much cricket together after the 2019 World Cup, when your partner is not there for you, you can struggle. If your partnership is great, then both guys involved do great. But in the end, team combination matters. When Hardik was not bowling, Jadeja came in and he did everything, so one of either me or Chahal got to play,” he added.
