Former PCB chairman Ramiz Raja made a significant remark on Pakistan’s star pacer Mohammad Amir when asked about his potential comeback to the team.
During a tour to England in 2010, Amir and two other Pakistani players Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif were banned on spot-fixing charges.

Ramiz Raja was removed as chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board last month, and Najam Sethi took over as head of a 14-member managing committee. Shahid Afridi, a former captain of Pakistan, was also chosen as the interim chief selector, joining former cricketers Abdul Razzaq and Rao Iftikhar Anjum on the panel.
Following the regime transition, the Sethi-led PCB made a number of significant decisions, including the elimination of the Pakistan Junior League (PJL), an initiative of Ramiz. It also appears that Sethi, one of Pakistan’s top pacers, who had been turned away and sent into international retirement under Ramiz, could make a comeback.

After being permitted to train at the National High-Performance Centre, Mohammad Amir, who last represented Pakistan in 2020, has hinted that he may play again for the squad (NHPC). Ramiz had kept quiet about his intolerance of match-fixing accusations on numerous occasions, thus Amir had been away from the team during that time.
“When it happens with you, it becomes difficult”: Ramiz Raja
Ramiz Raja, who is no longer working with PCB, expressed his opposition to the idea of Amir returning to Pakistan during a public event.

“Youth needs to learn that you can’t love those who were involved in fixing. I feel this on a personal level because, unfortunately, I played in the period of cricket when nine players tried to win the game and two didn’t. When it happens to you, it gets difficult,” Ramiz stated at a Government College University event in Lahore.
“In my book, I never had respect for such people and I never will,” Ramiz Raja added.
Amir returned to international cricket in 2016 after serving his punishment. The bowler eventually played a vital role in Pakistan’s Champions Trophy victory in 2017.
