"I Rotate The Strike Well Against Spinners" - Shubman Gill Ready For A New Role In ODIs

Rising Batter Shubman Gill has started making huge strides. The right-handed batter had a terrific ODI Series against South Africa where he decimated the opponent. The batter looked in sublime touch and it won’t be wrong to say that he is an exciting prospect for Indian Cricket.
Gill has been a part of Team India for a couple of years where he has got a chance when the senior players are rested. He had decent outings against West Indies and Zimbabwe where he has made a case for himself for the upcoming 2023 Cricket World Cup.

Shubman Gill on Batting Position
Shubman Gill was having an interaction with ESPNcricinfo ahead of Punjab’s Preliminary Quarter Final Match against Haryana in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
“My game all-round is very good and I rotate the strike well against spinners. So even if I get a chance in the middle order, I am ready for that. If they [the team management] are looking at me in the middle order, then I am ready for it.
“When I scored that hundred in Zimbabwe, I was batting at one down, I didn’t open. So one down or two down, whatever the team needs, I am ready,” said Shubman Gill.

Conundrum for Management
The way Shubman Gill has been piling on the runs, it would be tough for selectors to ignore him. He has shown that he is someone who can also play the waiting game and accelerate later. With less than a year left for ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, India should stick to one combination as playing musical chairs too often won’t be a good idea.

Head Coach Rahul Dravid will have a strenuous task on his hands as the team already has Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul present who are fighting for the opener’s slot. It won’t be wrong to say that the management has got some happy headaches and would be hoping that the team wins the championship next year.
