Afghanistan batter Najibullah Zadran revealed an interesting story with his idol, MS Dhoni, during the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2015 in Australia. Zardan has spoken about Dhoni’s influence on his playing career and said that he tries to emulate the former India skipper’s success as a finisher.
Afghanistan played in the 2015 World Cup, which was their first appearance in an ICC event. They only won one of their six matches and finished fifth in their group after defeating Scotland. Meanwhile, MS Dhoni captained the Men in Blue in the tournament, his final stint as captain in an ICC event in the 50-over format, and they were defeated by hosts Australia in the semi-finals.

No One Can Finish An Innings Like He Used To Do – Najibullah Zadran
Najibullah Zadran revealed that his idol is the legendary MS Dhoni and that he learned insights into his game from the former Indian wicketkeeper. Zardan added that he is confident of producing similar efforts on a consistent basis.
“I regard Dhoni as my idol. No one can finish an innings like he used to do. I learnt from him. I spoke to Dhoni at the 2015 World Cup, where he told me to just keep calm and believe in myself even in high-pressure situations. I still believe and follow that advice,” Zadran told MI Emirates in a conversation.

Najibullah Zadran is an integral part of the Afghanistan side. The 29-year-old batter has represented the country in 82 ODIs and 86 T20Is, scoring 1974 and 1590 runs, respectively, so far.
Zadran is currently representing the MI Emirates International League T20, 2023. The Emirates are currently third in the points table with 7 points, having won three matches out of six. The left-handed batter smashed 30 runs off nine balls against the Dubai Capitals, but it came in a losing cause.
