Young Afghanistan speedster Naveen-ul-Haq has praised Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah and said that he will be glad even if he becomes 50 per cent of the bowler Bumrah is.
India National Cricket Team and Afghanistan National Cricket Team both had a poor outing in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021. Fans had some hopes that Afghanistan being an Asian side might pull an upset by defeating big teams on the UAE surface but it didn’t happen.
On the other hand, Virat Kohli-led India were favourites to win the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 but they faced two consecutive defeats against Pakistan and New Zealand and were eventually knocked out of the tournament.
Meanwhile, 22-year-old Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq in an interview with News9 revealed he admires Bumrah a lot as he is a very calm and composed player even in the toughest situations of the game.
“I admire him as a bowler. Such a cool and calm customer of the game. The way he carries himself even in the toughest of situations is a great example to learn from. I will be glad if I even become 50 percent of the bowler he is. He is simply terrific,” Naveen said.
I Didn’t Know I Had A Similar Bowling Action To Jasprit Bumrah – Naveen-ul-Haq
Naveen further added that he was unaware of the fact that there are a lot of similarities between his and Bumrah’s bowling action. He also revealed that he came to know about this during the match when he saw the big screen.
“Even I didn’t know I had a similar bowling action to Jasprit Bumrah. Before this T20 World Cup, no one had pointed this out. You know the similar load-up or the hyperextension.
“It was during the match that I saw it on the big screen that our bowling action was being compared and I was like ‘wow!’, there is indeed some similarity. After that match, people started to ask me about it. I feel the bowling action comes naturally. But the similarity is completely a coincidence,” he stated.
