The International Cricket Council (ICC), on Monday (November 4), announced the 2025-2029 Future Tours Programme for women's international cricket.

The upcoming cycle will also decide the lineup for the 2029 Women’s Cricket World Cup. In the new FTP cycle, there will be 11 teams, one more than the current 10. Zimbabwe will be making their debut in the competition as the ICC called it a 'significant step toward broader global representation in women’s cricket'.

As per the FTP cycle, each team will compete against the other eight teams in the Women's Championship. The teams will be playing four home and four away series, just like the current edition. A total of 44 series will be played in the Championship. A total of 132 ODIs will take place with each series consisting of three games.

In their debut appearance in the competition, Zimbabwe will be hosting Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and South Africa. For the four away series, they will be traveling to New Zealand, Sri Lanka, England, and the West Indies.

The new FTP cycle will have more international women’s cricket across all formats. More than 400 games across formats will be taking place in the 2025-2029 cycle. The upcoming cycle will also feature an ICC Women’s tournament every year.

The first ICC tournament in the new FTP cycle will be the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in 2025. It will be followed by the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2026, the inaugural ICC Women’s Champions Trophy in 2027, and the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2028.

The ICC also stated that the teams have agreed to participate in tri-series tournaments before an ICC event in order to prepare for the marquee events. England will be hosting India and New Zealand in a T20I tri-series before the T20 World Cup in 2026.

On the other hand, Ireland will be hosting Pakistan and West Indies. Sri Lanka and the West Indies too will host tri-series in 2027 and 2028, respectively.
