ICC announces match officials for World Test Championship 2025 final

ICC announced the match officials for the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final between Australia and South Africa on June 11 at Lord’s.
England’s Richard Illingworth and New Zealand’s Chris Gaffaney will be the on-field umpires for the WTC 2025 final.

ICC announces all match officials for WTC 2025 final
Defending champion Australia will take on South Africa in the third edition of the WTC 2025 final. England’s Richard Illingworth and Chris Gaffaney from New Zealand will be the on-field umpires for the WTC 2025 final.
India’s Javagal Srinath will be the match referee for the marquee event, and his fellow partner Nitin Menon will also represent India in the WTC 2025 final, as Menon will be the fourth umpire of the match.
“We are pleased to announce an experienced team of match officials for the World Test Championship Final at Lord’s, marking the culmination of a highly competitive two-year cycle of Test matches played around the world,” Jay Shah stated in an ICC release.
England’s Richard Kettleborough has appointed as the third umpire of the marquee event. Kettleborough has officiated many finals. He was also seen in the official dress at the ICC's last event Champions Trophy final, as well.
“We strive to select the most qualified and deserving officials for all matches, and we are confident they will perform admirably. On behalf of the ICC, I wish them all the best and hope they enjoy this assignment." Jay Shah added.
Richard Illingworth’s third WTC final as match official
Richard Illingworth was included in the officiating team in the WTC final of 2021 and 2023 as well. He also won the ICC Umpire of the Year award in 2024.
Illingworth and Gaffaney had officiated the World T20 World Cup final 2024 and the WTC final 2023 together as on-field umpires. Both umpires have officiated big finals several times in their career. The umpiring will be top-notch for the big final.
Indian officials for the WTC 2025 final
Despite India didn't qualify for the final of the WTC but two Indians are included in the final as match officials for the match between Australia and South Africa. India’s best umpire, Nitin Menon, will be the TV umpire for the marquee final.
Menon also served at the T20 World Cup 2021 final as a TV umpire. Former Indian cricketer Jagadeesh Srinath will be the referee of the match.
Australia and South Africa have announced the squads for the WTC 2025 final, as Australia will look to defend their title and South Africa are in search of their first ICC title.
Pat Cummins will lead Australia, and Temba Bavuma will captain the South Africa team for the WTC final 2025. The final will be played at Lord's.
