In match no.41, the Mumbai Indians (MI) hosted the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. The game was an exciting one with another superb batting display from both sides. At the end, Pat Cummins' side chased down the mammoth total of 244 runs with 8 balls to spare and continued their winning streak to 5 wins in a row.

MI won the toss and opted to bat first in a must-win game for them. Hardik Pandya’s side made four changes coming into the game; Ryan Rickelton, Trent Boult, Robin Minz, and Will Jacks came in, and Quinton de Kock, Mitchell Santner, Sherfane Rutherford, and Krish Bhagat were out of the team.

Ryan Rickelton's century goes in vain

While batting first, the opening pair, Ryan Rickelton and Will Jacks, were off to a fiery start and scored 78 runs in the power play, and were looking dangerous. Jacks, who looked in good touch, missed a well-deserved half-century as he was dismissed on the score of 46 runs. However, Rickelton continued his amazing touch in the match.

The Proteas batter brought up his half-century in just 23 balls. He was striking at a blistering pace and brought up his maiden IPL hundred in 44 balls, which was also the fastest century by a MI batter, surpassing the joint-record of Sanath Jayasuriya and Tilak Varma. Suryakumar Yadav yet again failed, and Naman Dhir also did not trouble the bowlers.

Pandya scored a fine 31 off 15 balls and gave good support to the Southpaw, and then Tilak’s small cameo of 7 runs off 5 balls and the unbeaten knock of Ryan Rickelton helped MI go past the 220 run mark as they finished off with the score of 243/5 in the 20 overs.

Pat Cummins' side chase down 244 with ease

The opening duo of Pat Cummins' team, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head, went into carnage from the very first over and scored 92 runs in the power play. The two were looking phenomenal; the former missed a fifty as he was dismissed on 45 runs, and Head continued his carnage, scoring 76 runs off 30 balls.

Some wickets in the middle overs made it look like Mumbai would come back in the match, but then came the in-form Heinrich Klaasen, who was striking brilliantly in the middle overs and finished the match with an unbeaten knock of 65 runs. Salil Arora scored 30 off 10 balls.

So credit to the coaching staff- Pat Cummins

Pat Cummins, after the win, said, "I always thought it was tough to start with, but knowing our batting lineup and obviously a very good pitch, definitely thought it was within our sights. A few things had to go right, but I thought it was chaseable. (That opening combo that you possess, has fear completely gone out of their lives?)."

"Hope so. You know, you see when the pitch is good, the way they play, they've got so many different shots. So I mean, I'm glad I'm not bowling at them. They look pretty scary. (What do you make of all these youngsters coming through?).

Pat Cummins is in awe of Salil Arora's batting, "It's super impressive. Salil (Arora) hasn't really got much of a chance this season yet, but really impressed in the preseason. They've all just got that fearless attitude."

"So credit to the coaching staff as well for instilling that in these young guys. I don't think they realize how good they are, 200 used to be kind of tough to chase 5 years ago. Now even 240 is chasable. Eshan has been one of the main reasons why we have been winning the games. We will keep hanging in there," Pat Cummins finally concluded.
