The wait to see Mohammed Shami in action in Indian colors is finally about to end. As per the reports in News 18, it is learned that the premier fast bowler is all set to make a comeback and will be playing for the India National Cricket Team in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
It's been more than a year that Mohammed Shami has featured for the India National Cricket Team. The fast bowler last played for the team in the final of the ICC World Cup 2023 and, since then, has been out of action due to the ankle injury that he faced in the tournament.
Mohammed Shami hasn't played for India since the ICC World Cup 2023
Mohammed Shami, after the World Cup, underwent surgery and then gave his best to be back on the field in time. The fast bowler put in hard yards at the NCA and it was expected that he would make his return in the home Test season, which began with the series against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team.
However, he didn't achieve full fitness till that time, and it was certain that he would be fit by the time the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 starts. But in what was another setback for him, the fast bowler experienced knee swelling and was asked to play in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25.
Shami played one game for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy and looked in decent shape. But as per the experts at the NCA, he wasn't a match fit and then was asked to play the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 for Bengal.
But the knee injury got worse for him as he was ruled out of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 as well. The premier pacer now is all set to be back in action and has resumed bowling in the nets as well. There are chances that he might be back in the England ODIs, which will be the last series ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
