On the other hand, the Sindh police are taking proactive steps to ensure security as Karachi will be hosting the opening ceremony and the tournament opener apart from the upcoming ODI Tri-Series.

According to a police spokesperson, the commissioner has already conducted meetings to personally oversee the security arrangements at the National Stadium in Karachi.

A police spokesperson was quoted as saying by PTI: “Plans are being drawn up, and at least 5000 or more security personnel, including units of the Sindh police, would be deployed for the matches, on routes, and at team hotels.”

Top-8 teams to battle for glory after 8 years

Meanwhile, after a long wait of eight years, the ICC Champions Trophy is back, and after a lot of drama, the tournament is set to get underway in Pakistan and Dubai next month. Eight top teams from last year’s 2023 ODI World Cup will battle it out for the coveted title.

The 8 teams are divided into two groups. Group A is comprised of Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and New Zealand, while Afghanistan, England, Australia, and South Africa are in Group B. Speaking about the format of the Champions Trophy 2025, each team plays three matches in the group stage, and the top two teams from each group advance to the semi-finals.

The top two teams from the semifinals will face each other in the title clash. However, Pakistan has not yet announced the squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025, while the rest of the seven participants have already named their provision squads.
