ICC Charges Local Indian Umpire Jatin Kashyap For Breaching Anti-Corruption Code

The International Cricket Council (ICC) charged Indian umpire Jatin Kashyap on Monday for breaching two counts of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code following an investigation into international matches in 2022. Kashyap has been charged with failing to cooperate with the ACU investigation.
According to ESPNcricinfo, Bhatinda-based umpire Jatin Kashyap has been charged with alleged offenses related to the Oman 2022 Asia Cup Qualifiers. Although he is not a member of the ICC’s panel of match officials, the anti-corruption unit has the authority to launch an investigation.

According to an ICC statement, Jatin has been charged with breaching articles 2.4.6 and 2.4.7 of the Code as he refused and delayed the ACU’s investigation.
“The breaches arose out of an investigation into International Matches in 2022,” read the ICC statement.

“In accordance with Code Article 4.6.6, Mr Kashyap has 14 days from 19 May to respond to the charges,” the statement added.

Article 2.4.6 of the Code is failing or refusing, without compelling justification, to cooperate with the ACU investigation in relation to possible Corrupt Conduct under the Code, including (without limitation) failing to provide accurately and completely any information or documentation requested by the ACU as part of such investigation.

In accordance with Code Article 4.6.6, the ICC has given Kashyap 14 days from May 19 to respond to the allegations, which relate to the international games in 2022. The ICC will not make any further comment on these charges at this moment.
