India stars Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj have moved to the top of the latest ICC Rankings for batsmen and bowlers respectively, the governing body confirmed on Wednesday (November 8).

Shubman Gill, who is the leading run-scorer in ODIs in the ongoing year, has displaced Pakistan captain Babar Azam at the top of the rankings. He has become just the fourth India player after the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli to move to the top of the ICC Rankings for batsmen.

In the ongoing World Cup, he has scored 219 runs in 6 innings so far. The right-handed batsman missed India’s first two games due to dengue before returning to action against Pakistan. Last week, he played a fine knock of 92 runs against Sri Lanka to help India win the game by 302 runs and seal a spot in the semifinals.

ICC Rankings for batsmen:

Shubman Gill is at the top of the ICC Rankings with 830 points followed by Babar who has 824 rating points. At number three is Quinton de Kock who is currently the leading run-scorer in the World Cup. The South Africa opener has smashed 550 runs with the help of four centuries.

Virat Kohli, who is the second-leading run-scorer in the World Cup, has entered the top five and is currently at the fourth spot. The former India skipper scored a sublime century against South Africa in his last outing to equal Tendulkar’s record of most ODI tons. David Warner completes the top five.
