England white-ball captain Eoin Morgan has said that the Australian team that won the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 will be entering the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 as favourites to win the championship and England will be the ‘joint second’ favourites.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed the fixtures for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, which will be played from October 16 to November 13, in Australia.

We know Australia’s different, we know our guys play really well in Australia – Eoin Morgan

Meanwhile, England skipper Eoin Morgan has said that the conditions in Australia are different but he was confident that England players will do well there, having done the same in past.

Given Australia won, they would go in favorites. I’d like to think we’d be joint second, if we continue on a reasonable run of form between now and then, probably with India and Pakistan. We know Australia’s different, we know our guys play really well in Australia”, said Morgan while speaking to Perth Now.

“It makes us feel a little bit more at ease than planning for conditions that we might not go in as one of the favourites. It makes us feel a little bit comfortable, we know what works in Australia,” he added.

Eoin Morgan-led side performed exceptionally well in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021, they won the 4 back-to-back matches in the Super12 stage before losing the 5th match against South Africa. They entered the semi-final and played good cricket. However, they lost the match against eventual runners up New Zealand.
