Aussie bowler, Adam Zampa opened up on Australia’s dream to win the forthcoming ODI World Cup 2023 and said that they have a burning desire to get hold of the extravaganza trophy.

Australia are on a tour of South Africa and displayed a stunning performance and whitewashed the Proteas in the three-game series.

While speaking to ICC, Adam Zampa said that winning the T20 World Cup with Australia was one of the best feelings for him and added that clinching a win in the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 will be the same feeling.

Adam Zampa accepted that winning two World Cups is very uncommon and not something that one can do very often.

The Aussie bowler revealed that the team still thinks about the time when the squad won the 2021 World Cup and trying to recreate the feeling.

The Aussie player also added that losing the 2019 ODI World Cup was the worst feeling and the burning feeling is still there to win the 50-over World Cup.

“Winning that T20 World Cup was one of the best feelings I have had on the cricket field and winning the 50-over World Cup would be a pretty similar feeling I would assume.

“You don’t get the chance to win World Cups very often. We are still thinking about that World Cup we won a couple of years ago (2021) and are trying to recreate that feeling. We were disappointed with our 2019 World Cup and how that finished and we still have that burning desire to win a one-day World Cup,” Adam Zampa said.

Our one-day cricket has been really good for a long time: Adam Zampa

Zampa said that the Aussies are one of the best teams in the 50-over format and confident that they can do well in the forthcoming extravaganza tournament.

“Our one-day cricket has been really good for a long time and we are one of the best teams in the world according to the ICC rankings. We have been playing really good one-day cricket lately so hopefully the boys have played enough cricket or had enough rest so that when we get to India we are ready to go,” he added.

Pat Cummins-led Australia will start their ODI World Cup 2023 journey against India on October 8th at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
