ICC World Cup 2023: IPL Experience Will Help Jos Buttler And England Players - Eoin Morgan

Former England skipper Eoin Morgan has heaped praises on England captain Jos Buttler, saying that he is a phenomenal player. Eoin Morgan also added that IPL experience will help Jos Buttler and England players to a great extent during ICC World Cup 2023.

Jos Buttler is set to lead England in ICC World Cup 2023. England are the defending champions of ICC World Cup 2023, who won the last edition in 2019 under captain Eoin Morgan. This time, England will be led by Buttler.

Jos Buttler Is A Phenomenal Player: Eoin Morgan

While speaking to Revsportz, Eoin Morgan hailed Jos Buttler, calling him a phenomenal player and one of the best white-ball players of all time.

“Firstly, let me just say that Jos Buttler is a phenomenal player, and one of the best white-ball players of all time. He tasted silverware in his very first World Cup [as captain] in Australia last year, and look at the impact he had. It tells you how good he is”, the former left-handed batter said.

Eoin Morgan, who is an active commentator now, also feels that IPL experience will help Jos Buttler and England players a lot as they are now acquainted with the Indian conditions.

“And yes, the IPL experience will of course help him [Buttler] a great deal. It is not only him. A lot of the other England players have played the IPL and tasted success. Joe Root too played his first IPL this year.

What this does is it gives you a feel of the conditions that you will get during the World Cup, and I believe the experience of playing T20 leagues across the world means the conditions aren’t that alien any more as they were earlier. That will make a big difference to Buttler and his team”, the 36-year-old further added.

Buttler is part of Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League. He has a lot of experience in IPL. The right-handed batsman also won the orange cap in the last season IPL 2022.

Meanwhile, ICC World Cup 2023 commences on October 5 in India. England will play the tournament opener on October 5 with New Zealand in Ahmedabad. Both are the finalists of the previous editions.
