ICC World Cup 2023: Maheesh Theekshana Fires Massive Spin Bowling Warning To Oppositions With Help From Wanindu Hasaranga

Sri Lanka player Maheesh Theekshana spoke about bowling with his teammate Wanindu Hasaranga in the forthcoming ICC World Cup 2023. Maheesh Theekshana feels that spin bowling is Sri Lanka’s strength.

Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga are two key spinners for Sri Lanka currently. While Theekshana is an off-spinner, Hasaranga is a leg spinner. Both will be important tools for Sri Lanka in ICC World Cup 2023, which takes place on spin-friendly Indian grounds.

Spin Bowling Is Our Strength: Maheesh Theekshana

Recently, Maheesh Theekshana spoke to Revsportz during an exclusive interview. During the chat, the off-spinner was asked about sharing the stage with teammate Wanindu Hasaranga in ICC World Cup 2023. Theekshana feels that spin bowling is Sri Lanka’s strength.

“Yes, spin bowling is our strength. Wanindu is an excellent bowler and exerts a lot of pressure on the batters. If we are able to bowl well from both ends, there is always a chance of picking up wickets”, the right-arm spinner said.

Theekshana also feels that if he bowls with the correct line and length, he will be successful in the tournament.

“In my case, I just try to keep things simple. Cricket is a simple game, which people overcomplicate at times. It is still about line and length. About bowling the right balls. If I am able to do that, I know I will be successful”, the Sri Lankan skipper further said.

Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana also have a decent experience of Indian conditions. Both regularly play in IPL tournaments. While Hasaranga is part of Royal Challengers Bangalore, Theekshana is a member of Chennai Super Kings.

The duo will also play a key role in Asia Cup 2023. The tournament starts on August 30. Sri Lanka is one of the hosts of the tournament. They are also the defending champions of Asia Cup 2023.

Meanwhile, ICC World Cup 2023 commences on October 5 in India. Sri Lanka did not get a direct qualification for the tournament. However, they executed an impeccable performance in World Cup qualifiers to get a place in the tournament.
