Aussie pacer, Marcus Stoinis spoke on the opening fixture of Australia against the Men in Blues in the upcoming ODI World Cup in India which will commence from October 5th and will end on November 19th.
The 34-year-old pacer has not been included in Australia’s preliminary squad for the upcoming tournament and the Aussies will go in the ODI World Cup with pacers like Josh Hazelwood, Mitchell Starc, and Pat Cummins.
While speaking to Revsportz, Marcus Stoinis accepted that India and Australia are the two best teams in the tournament and have a chance to win the upcoming ODI World Cup.
Marcus Stoinis also talked about Australia’s opening match in the tournament against India and said high pressure at the start of the tournament will help to set the tournament for the team.
“I like the fact that you said two of the best teams. I do believe India and Australia are two of the best teams in the World Cup, and both have the potential to go all the way. Playing a very intense high-pressure game at the start of the World Cup can actually set the tournament up for you,” Marcus Stoinis said.
They will not let you make a comeback: Marcus Stoinis
The 34-year-old pacer said that there is no chance of making mistakes when one team is facing India since the Men in Blues won’t let the opponents come back in a match for which one has to start performing from the very first of the match against Australia.
“When you play India, you know there is no chance of making mistakes. They will not let you make a comeback if you give them an opportunity. So it sets you up early on in the tournament, and it is something that can work for a team like us,” Stoinis added.
Rohit Sharma will be under a lot of pressure this year since the Men in Blues have failed to win any ICC events in the past 10 years and to end the drought, the India skipper can’t afford to make a mistake that might cost them the tournament.
Pat Cummins-led Australia will start their ODI World Cup campaign against India on October 8th and the match will be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
