Young Indian opener Prithvi Shaw expressed his aspirations to have a long and successful career representing the national team. Prithvi Shaw emphasized his desire to play for India for more than 10 years and achieve significant milestones, including winning the World Cup.

Prithvi Shaw led the Indian U19 team to victory in the 2018 World Cup. The right-handed batter received his maiden call-up to the national team and made his Test debut in the same year. However, Shaw went down in the pecking order due to his poor recent performances.

Prithvi Shaw Not Included In Squad For Asian Games

Prithvi Shaw had a disappointing season with the bat for the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL). After a few matches, he was dropped from the starting XI. The 23-year-old only managed to score 106 runs in eight matches with a dismal strike rate of 124.71.

It is worth mentioning that Shaw is not on the selectors’ radar, as he was not included in the second-string team for the upcoming Asian Games, scheduled to be held in September 2023 in Hangzhou, China. The selectors picked Ruturaj Gaikwad and Yashasvi Jaiswal as openers in the team.
