Rohit Sharma Criticised England As Hosts Of ICC World Test Championship Finals

Previously Indian skipper Rohit Sharma criticised the idea of hosting WTC finals in June. He spoke his mind after India’s loss to Australia in the WTC final for which they did not get enough time to prepare for the final. Rohit said that the WTC finals in the future should not be played in June. India did not have too much time on hand to get themselves adjusted to the conditions in England as they reached the country after the IPL 2023 final.

“Why after the IPL final? Why can’t it be March? June is not the only month we should play the final. It can be played any time of the year and anywhere in the world, not just in England, it can be played anywhere in the world,” Rohit had said. Meanwhile, rain is a major factor in the month of May-June in England.

In other news, the ICC has started the Women’s T20 Champions Trophy. The inaugural edition will be played in Sri Lanka in February 2027 and will be in the T20I format. The next men’s ICC Champions Trophy is slated to be played in Pakistan in 2025. It will be played in the ODI format.

Meanwhile, Malaysia will host the next edition of the Women’s U-19 World Cup in January 2026. India will host the next edition of the Men’s T20I World Cup along with Sri Lanka who will be the co-host in October-November 2026. India will also host the next Women’s ODI World Cup in October-November 2025. Thus the sub-continent is all set to be a part of the cricketing extravaganza for the good part of the next two years.
