The much-hyped ICC World Test Championship Final final is set to take place between India and Australia at the Oval on 7th June 2023. Suryakumar Yadav was dropped after the first test match against Australia in the BGT 2023 as he couldn’t make an impact. Suryakumar Yadav later had a forgettable ODI series against the Aussies as he was dismissed on 0 in all the 3 matches.
India would be aware of the fact that Australia would be a completely different unit in English conditions, the likes of Cummins, Starc & Hazlewood can easily create havoc. It would be interesting to see how Indian players perform in WTC 2021-23 final after a gruelling IPL 2023.
Cricket Australia (CA) have shown faith in the veteran batter David Warner. Warner doesn’t have a promising record in England and perhaps will have to play his natural attacking brand of cricket rather than getting into the shell to get the team off to a good start.
BCCI have named Sarfaraz Khan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan, Mukesh Kumar and Navdeep Saini as the standbys for WTC 2021-23 final. All eyes would be on Ajinkya Rahane who got drafted into the squad on the basis of good performances as the dashing batter Shreyas Iyer was injured.
IPL 2023 | India National Cricket Team | Chennai Super Kings (CSK) | Delhi Capitals (DC) | Gujarat Titans (GT) | Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) | Lucknow Supergiants (LSG) | Mumbai Indians (MI) | Punjab Kings (PBKS) | Rajasthan Royals (RR) | Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) | SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH)
Cricket Australia (CA) would be hoping that Steve Smith leads the batting lineup as the middle order is quite fragile. It won’t be wrong to say that Smith’s county stint at Sussex would help him to get accustomed to the conditions in the high-voltage clash.
Suryakumar Yadav for WTC 2021-23
A BCCI source was having an interaction with the Times of India. The source stated that Suryakumar Yadav could be a part of WTC 2021-23 final stand-by players for India.
“While, it hasn’t been officially decided yet, Surya was recently been told to keep his UK visa ready,” said the BCCI source.
Suryakumar Yadav recently while playing for Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 2023 struck a breathtaking knock of 66 runs in 31 balls against Punjab Kings (PBKS) and it seemed as if he rediscovered his mojo. Suryakumar Yadav was seen playing innovative shots and could be an option in WTC 2021-23 final if some player is injured.
