IDFC Beat Competition From Sony Sports To Secure Title Rights For Team India's Home Games

IDFC bank, recognized as Infrastructure Development Finance Company, has secured the title rights for the home international series of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). On August 1, the BCCI had released the tender for the title sponsorship rights of its events. The Invitation to Tender (ITT) was available for purchase till August 21.
According to a report in Cricbuzz, IDFC have secured the title rights for Rs 4.2 crore per international game. The BCCI used to earn Rs 3.8 crore from the last title rights deal. As per reports, Paytm and MasterCard paid Rs 3.8 crore per match for the international matches played in the country between 2019 and 2023. The Indian cricket board had set the base price for the bidding at Rs 2.4 crore for the new deal.
IDFC beat competition from broadcasters Sony Sports to secure the title rights. As per the report, there were no other bidders for the title rights of Team India’s home games. An agency representing a corporate company had also applied but their bid was rejected by the BCCI due to technical issues.
IDFC has signed a three-year deal with the BCCI. The contract will come into effect next month with the three-match ODI series against Australia. The contract is scheduled to end in August 2026. IDFC has won the rights for a total of 56 matches and the BCCI is set to earn almost Rs 1000 crore from the deal.
Team India to be in action soon:
Team India will be in action soon when they go to Sri Lanka for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. The continental championship is scheduled to be played from August 30 to September 17 in Sri Lanka and Pakistan. A total of six teams are participating in the competition – Sri Lanka, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Nepal.
India are in Group A along with Pakistan and Nepal. The Men in Blue will open their campaign in the Asia Cup on September 2 against Pakistan before taking on Nepal two days later. After the Asia Cup, India will return home to take on Australia in the three-match ODI series, starting on September 22. It will be followed by the all-important ICC World Cup 2023.
