Hanuma Vihari came to bat as a left-armer with a broken left wrist in both innings of the Ranji Trophy quarter final match between Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. The Andhra captain revealed that he does not want to give up in the match and should contribute to the team even at the risk of his career.
The right-handed batter was batting on 16 when he was forced to leave the field after fracturing his left forearm on an Avesh Khan delivery in the first inning. However, he came out to bat again after quick medical treatment and stayed at the crease for another 11 runs. He decided to bat again in the second-innings and scored 15 runs off 16 balls.

During an interaction on the Aakashvani show on JioCinema, Hanuma Vihari said that there is no problem if he does not play cricket after this match. Vihari stated that he decided to bat despite being injured as it was a crucial game for Andhra.
“When I said that I wanted to bat, the physio told me 10 times that my career might be at risk if I am hit on the hand again while batting. I told the physio that there is no problem if I don’t play cricket after this match but if I give up for Andhra in this match, it will be in my heart forever.”
“I was devastated because it was a quarterfinal match, such an important match for Andhra and I was not able to bat. I thought it would be an advantage even if I could add 10 runs for the team for the last wicket and I took that decision. If you have to do it for the team, you get the courage.”
Vihari batted with the injury in two innings, scoring 27 and 15, respectively. His bravery was not enough for Andhra Pradesh to win, and they lost the match by five wickets. They were eliminated from the competition.
