Former Australian cricketer Brad Hogg feels that India will become the ” best team in the world at the moment” if they win one out of the remaining two Test games against South Africa.

Virat Kohli-led India beached the Centurion fortress by defeating Dean Elgar-led South Africa by 113 runs to get the lead of 1-0 in the three-match Test series. Meanwhile, Kohli missed out on the second Test at the Wanderers, Johannesburg and KL Rahul was given the leadership responsibility.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Hogg said that India will be labelled as “one of the great teams that have been on Earth” if they win the Test series in South Africa. He asserted:

“India just won in South Africa in the Boxing Day Test, if India win one out of the remaining two Test matches, they are definitely the best team in the world at the moment. India are going to be labelled as one of the great teams that have been on Earth. Like Australia in the 2000s and West Indies in the late 70s and early 80s.”

Hogg mentioned that India have become a dominant team in overseas games and gave the example of India’s recent success in the England tour where India were leading by 2-1 in the series before the 5th Test was postponed due to the Covid-19 scare in the Indian camp. He said:

India are the best team because they are dominating when they travel. They annihilated England on English soil. They should have had that series against England done and dusted being 3-1 up. England had no answers for them. England were too worried about The Hundred competition, getting the big stars to play there.”

Well, we’re in different times, there’s a pandemic, you have to adjust and be hospitable to the visitors. If that Test match does not get rescheduled, I don’t think anyone should worry about it because it was completely England’s fault,” he added.
