Legendary West Indies cricketer Sir Vivian Richards has named his second-best team for the T20 World Cup 2024. Being a West Indian, Vivian Richards is backing the West Indies to lift the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy. But if West Indies fail to do so, he has his second-best team ready as well.

Vivian Richards was invited by India's fielding coach T Dilip to the team's dressing room to present the best fielder's medal after India's dominating performance over Bangladesh.

The match was played in North Sound, Antigua, which is the home of Sir Vivian Richards. As expected, the legend was there in the stands to watch the two Asian giants competing against each other.

Suryakumar Yadav receives the best fielder award

After the match, Viv Richards made it to India's dressing room to present the medal to Suryakumar Yadav. Suryakumar didn't have a good day with the bat as he was dismissed off his second ball for 6 runs by fast bowler Tanzim Hasan Sakib.

But Suryakumar Yadav was a live wire in the field. He took a fantastic diving catch to dismiss the opener Litton Das to provide India with their first breakthrough. Then in the field, he made some crucial stops and saved a few runs as well.

Despite missing out with the bat in this game, Suryakumar Yadav has had a fantastic tournament so far. He has scored two fifties against USA and Afghanistan and both innings came when the team was under pressure.

Sir Vivian Richards names his second-best team

After receiving the medal, Vivian Richards named his second-best team of the T20 World Cup 2024.

'What can I say to a team that is already so powerful? You have a good thing going here. I can only say that if the guys in Maroon don't get it done, I'll be back in here. Is that okay? that sounds reasonable enough as a Caribbean person," Richards said as the dressing room was full of laughter.

Vivian Richards was also happy with Rishabh Pant's return to full fitness and mentioned that he has a lot to offer in the future.

"Really good to see what you guys have here. Pant's it's great to see you bat man, what you must have been through. We could have missed that great talent and that's exactly what you have to offer in the future. Just great to see you guys and the way you're playing your cricket, love it enjoying it. Well done again!" Richards concluded.

India thrash Bangladesh to remain unbeaten

Meanwhile, India maintained its unbeaten run in the T20 World Cup 2024 and moved closer to a semifinal spot. The Men in Blue were put into bat as they scored a mammoth 196-5, thanks to Hardik Pandya's unbeaten half-century and Virat Kohli's 37.

Chasing a huge target against a gun bowling attack, Bangladesh never got ahead of the game as they reached 146-8 in 20 overs. Kuldeep Yadav picked up three wickets for India while Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh picked up two wickets each. India thrashed a hapless Bangladesh by 50 runs as the team moved to St . Lucia for their last Super 8 game against Australia.
