Mumbai Indians (MI) Emirates on Sunday (7th January) announced a new skipper for the upcoming edition of the International League T20. The franchise named West Indies keeper-batter Nicholas Pooran as the new captain of the team.

Nicholas Pooran will take over the captaincy from Kieron Pollard, who captained the team last year in ILT20. The keeper-batter was the skipper of the Mumbai Indians New York in the inaugural edition of the Major League Cricket (MLC) in the United States of America (USA).

Under Nicholas Pooran, Mumbai Indians New York won the title. The keeper-batter led from the front end and scored a century in the final to take his team home. It’s fair to say that management would’ve been impressed by his leadership in the league and that’s why he has been given the responsibility to lead the team in the ILT20.

Kieron Pollard did a reasonable job for Mumbai Indians (MI) New York last year and led from the front. He guided the team to the playoffs but suffered a disappointing 4-wicket loss against Gulf Giants in the semi-final. Pollard was amongst the leading run-getters in the tournament last year.

Kieron Pollard in 10 innings scored 394 runs at an average of around 80. He also scored four fifties in the league and also was the leading six-hitter in the tournament with 29 sixes to his name. He also was handy with the ball and picked crucial wickets.
Nicholas Pooran also did a great job for them as well and scored 355 runs to his name. The keeper-batter now will take the onus of the team and would be hoping to take the team to glory like he did in the Major League Cricket (MLC). Management too would be hoping that he takes them to glory.

Mumbai Indians Emirates released the official statement and stated: “Nicholas Pooran will take over captain duties at MI Emirates ahead of the new season of ILT20.”

The second editing of the International League (ILT20) will begin from the 19th January in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) across three different venues in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. Mumbai Indians will open their campaign against Dubai Capitals on (20th January).

Mumbai Indians Cape Town Announce Kieron Pollard As The Skipper In SAT20

If Mumbai Indians remove Kieron Pollard as a captain of the team in ILT20, they rewarded him with leadership in SAT20. The all-rounder was announced as the captain of the team on Sunday (7th January).

Kieron Pollard will be taking over the leadership role from Rashid Khan. The leg-spinner will be missing the tournament after the injury he suffered. MI Cape Town released the official statement and stated:

“Kieron Pollard will be the captain for MI Cape Town in the second season of the SA20. Rashid Khan is unavailable currently, as he continues his recovery from injury. MI CT wish Rashid a quick recovery and look to have him back on the playing field soon.”

The second edition of the SAT20 will begin from 10th January. Mumbai Indians Cape Town will begin their campaign against Durban Super Giants on 11th January.
