England vs Pakistan 2nd Test match is already over, and the Men in Green were handed yet another humiliating defeat by 194 runs in the second Test match at the Lord’s Cricket Ground, London. The Three Lions have now sealed the three-match series as they lead by 2-0. Amidst the series, a controversy arose surrounding Imam-ul-Haq’s fake injuries.
Imam-ul-Haq did not come out to bat citing a grade-1 tear in his left calf, and he was reportedly given a 10-day rest. In a turn of events, he came out for knocking on day 4, ahead of the match starting, which caused a stir on social media, and he was slammed for the very same for showing off.
Imam-ul-Haq accused of faking injuries
As per the reports from Geo News, the Southpaw previously faked an injury during the team’s 2025 tour of New Zealand, and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is likely to check on the majority surrounding his latest injury as well. Back in 2025, he was hit on his toe during an indoor net session against New Zealand, and the X-rays showed no fracture.
However, he then complained of discomfort and discolouration, which the team doctor allegedly removed with a special chemical. The PCB, after investigating the matter, revealed that the material was ink or marker and charged Imam with fabricating and exaggerating the injuries, as well as manipulating medical personnel.
After being questioned about whether he manipulated the injury and the doctor as well, he denied that he used ink or any artificial substance on his toe. The committee also found that his explanations did not match the medical evidence, X-ray findings, and the appearance of the toe.
The investigating committee also decided that the opener was deliberately trying to skip the first ODI against the Black Caps. As per the reports, he used to fake and limp while he was under the radar of the PCB management, but walked normally out of their sight. He reportedly went to an iftar gathering, walking around 500 meters.
Imam-ul-Haq saved from ban
Imam-ul-Haq was saved from a ban from the PCB as the committee wanted him to be banned from featuring for the Men in Green across all formats and at all levels. According to sources, the incident was deliberate, pre-planned by the batter to avoid the first match.
Apart from that, it was also reported that he was accused because he did not want to open the batting on New Zealand’s pace-friendly and challenging pitches. However, he played in all the matches until he was finally struck on the jaw and was retired hurt for one run after having a concussion Test on the ground.
PCB opens investigation into Imam-ul-Haq
Now, the PCB have started investigating the matter yet again with a new injury problem for the batter during the England tour. As previously, Muhammad Wasim accused Imam of repeatedly faking injuries to avoid difficult batting conditions.
The former selector recalled an incident during Pakistan’s 2022 Test against England in Multan and stated the team physiotherapist had warned him that the batter would soon report an injury.
