Pakistan got eliminated from ICC Champions Trophy 2025 after they faced two back-to-back losses
Pakistan got eliminated after they faced two back-to-back losses. The start of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 didn't go their way as they were at the receiving end of a 60-run loss in the match against the New Zealand National Cricket Team at the National Stadium in Karachi on 19th February.
The hosts had a poor outing with the ball first as they ended up conceding 320 runs, with bowlers getting hit all over the park. With conditions being good for batting, it was expected that the hosts would come up with a fighting chase, but that wasn't the case.
The Mohammad Rizwan-led side got all out for just 260 runs as the batters failed to take responsibility. Babar Azam slammed a half-century at the top, but it came at a very slow strike rate. Salman Agha (42) and Khushdil Shah (69) fought hard but the target was too much for them to chase.

In the next game, it was an even poorer outing for the hosts as they were made to look clueless by the India National Cricket Team. The hosts got all for just 241 runs with Saud Shakeel being the top run-getter with his innings of 64 runs under pressure.
With the ball, the hosts failed to put pressure on India, who were sensational with the bat. Virat Kohli slammed a unbeaten century while Shreyas also hit a fifty. Shubman Gill played a valuable innings of 46 runs as India chased the target with 6 wickets in hand.
He said cricket will be eventually destroyed when favourites are put in decision-making positions - Imran Khan's sister Aleema Khan
With the team facing horrible losses, jailed former prime minister, Imran Khan, was disappointed with the way the Mohammad Rizwan-led side performed. He told his sister Aleema Khan, who met in jail, that the team would suffer when there is favoritism in decision-making positions.
"The PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) founder expressed great sadness over losing the match against India. Imran said cricket will be eventually destroyed when favourites are put in decision-making positions," sister Aleema Khan told the media outside Adiala Jail Rawalpindi after meeting Imran.
Pakistan now will be playing Bangladesh in their last league game on Thursday (27th Feb). They would be hoping to end the tournament on high by winning their last game.
