Former Pakistan captain and head coach, Misbah-ul-Haq, heaped praise on Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah for his exceptional performance across the formats after he yet again shone with the ball in the Super-8 clash against Afghanistan in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Bumrah, India’s most reliable and wicket-taking pacer, was at his dangerous best, finishing with the amazing figures of 3/7 in his four overs to help his team beat Afghanistan by 47 runs in their first Super-8 game of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados on June 20.

Speaking on TenSports Pakistan during the IND vs AFG match, Misbah highlighted India's evolution over the years, particularly emphasizing their transformed bowling attack.

The legendary batter noted that in the past, India relied heavily on their batting strength, but now they have a strong bowling attack. Reflecting on the ODI World Cup 2023, Misbah praised the quality of India's bowlers, singling out Bumrah as a standout performer across all formats.

He hailed Bumrah's versatility and control, emphasizing his ability to excel with both the new and old balls. Misbah said that Bumrah is an X-factor in India’s bowling attack, praising his calmness under pressure and strategic acumen.

The former Pakistan captain also mentioned that India now has a psychological advantage that they are capable of defending any totals and creating pressure on the opponents with their formidable bowling attack, and it was evident in the Group A match against Pakistan in New York.

He emphasized that India's balanced bowling attack instills confidence in the Indian team and makes them a formidable force that can tackle any opposition challenge in any condition.

Jasprit Bumrah is the X-factor in India's bowling attack: Misbah-ul-Haq

Misbah-ul-Haq said on TenSports Pakistan: “In the past, they only played on their batting, but now things have changed. India now has a quality bowling attack. Even if we look at the ODI World Cup 2023, they had quality bowlers. Bumrah is an outstanding bowler in any condition, whether it is a red ball or a white ball.

"Whatever cricket you are watching, early on, the way Bumrah bowls, the way he swings, the old ball, the defensive bowling skills, whether it is Yorkers or slower ones, the most important thing is their control."

"In pressure situations, the way he just calmly bowls, you can see a lot of authority. He has a great reading game. There is a huge edge. When you have such an X factor in bowling, it puts pressure on other teams, and your own team is confident that our bases are covered.”

Misbah further said on the show that in the past, when another team won the toss and called India for batting, their tension and frustration were clearly visible, indicating that they had lost their strength.

The cricket pandit said that the Men in Blue are now a team that believes that “our bowling is also such that if we bowl out on even a low total, they can defend the target, and they showed that against Pakistan.” Misbah signed off by saying, “The Indian bowlers can build pressure and take wickets. They have a complete bowling attack.”
