Virat Kohli was back as the captain of the team in the ongoing third T20I against Afghanistan. The dead rubber between the teams is taking place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, which Kohli touts as his second home.

After the first innings concluded and regular captain Rohit Sharma walked back with an unbeaten ton. The opener took time to recover and didn’t take the field early on as India walked out for the field in the second innings.

Virat Kohli acted as the stand-in skipper and was seen giving a pep talk to the team before the innings proceeded. This made the crowd go berserk as they got to see their favorite son captaining the team at his so-called home ground.

Virat Kohli has captained the Indian team for a long time and some of the famous Indian victories came under him at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. He also was the leader of the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL and led from the front in the league as well.

However, after some time, Rohit Sharma came back on the field and the batter was relieved of his duty. The Indian captain took the charge again. But this didn’t stop Virat Kohli from showing intensity on the field as he has been electric on the field.

Coming to the game, India won the toss and opted to bat first. They had a torrid start as they were reduced to 22/4. However, after that skipper Rohit Sharma and Rinku Singh joined hands and bailed the team out of trouble with their sensational partnership.

The duo added an unbeaten 190 runs off 95 balls for the 5th wicket. While Rohit Sharma ended the innings of an unbeaten 121 runs, Rinku Singh scored 69 runs. Their staggering partnership powered to a total of 212 runs on the board. For Afghanistan, Fareed Ahmad picked three wickets.

Virat Kohli didn’t have a great outing in the ongoing game. He bagged a golden duck and it was for the first time, he got out on the first ball in the shortest format of the game. He came to bat after Yashasvi Jaiswal got out and a lot was expected of him.

However, he perished right on the first ball he faced. Virat Kohli tried to pull the short ball by Fareed Ahmad. He however ended up scoping the ball off the bat and it lobbed up. He couldn’t get going and his wicket put the team under a lot of pressure.

Virat Kohli missed the first game due to personal reasons and returned in the second game. He smashed 29 runs in the first game and looked solid at the crease. What was the highlight of his innings was the way he batted aggressively.

Coming to the series, it has already been won by the Indian team as they won first two games by the margin 0f 6 wickets. They batted and bowled well to seal the series. They now would be looking to seal the series by the margin of 3-0.
