However, as Rohit Sharma has returned to the Indian team, it is very much clear that he will only lead the ‘Men in Blue’ in the major ICC tournament.
Suryakumar Yadav was also named the ICC Men’s T20 Player of the Year in 2022 and has been nominated for the same award in 2023. With the performance Suryakumar has displayed in the T20Is in 2023, he is the favorite to win the award.

Getting back to India’s current T20I series against Afghanistan, it was all-rounder Shivam Dube, whose unbeaten 60 run knock-off 40 balls guided India to a six-wicket win over the Afghani team. India chased down 159 runs in the 18th over itself when Dube hit a six and a four to finish things off in style for India.
India didn’t start off well as captain Rohit Sharma was run out for a duck in the very first over of the innings. However, his partner Shubman Gill kept playing his shots and scored 23 runs from 12 balls with five boundaries. However, Gill threw his wicket away to Mujeeb Ur Rahman when he was stumped by Rahmanullah Gurbaz.
After the fall of early wickets, Shivam Dube took charge and put up decisive 40-odd run stands with Jitesh Sharma, Tilak Varma, and Rinku Singh. At last, India proved to be good enough for Afghanistan and they won the match by six wickets.
