India are all set to lock horns with Afghanistan in the three-match T20I series. It will be the last outing for India in the format ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. The three games will give answers to a lot of questions related to the roadmap for the tournament.

The two teams will be locking horns with each other first on 11th January in Punjab and then will be moving to Indore for the second game on 14th January. The last match will be played on 17th January in Bengaluru.

The series is still 5 days away from now and all the eyes are on what will be the Indian squad for the series. More than the games, the attention towards the squad is because it will be a potential hint about the Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2024, set to be played in June this year

It is learned that selectors will be meeting in Mumbai on Sunday (7th January) to mull over the squad for the Afghanistan series.

The reports also added that selectors will be discussing the pathway for the T20 World Cup 2024. The India squad for the Afghanistan series is likely to be announced tomorrow and it will be interesting to see who all makes it into the team for the series as it will hint about the World Cup team.

The big question remains around the availability of the seniors in Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Sports Today earlier reported that the duo are all set to be included in the team for the Afghanistan series. If they make it into the team it will be for the first time since the T20 World Cup 2022 that they will feature in T20Is.

There were separate reports in PTI that suggested that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be picked for the Afghanistan series but it won’t guarantee them a spot in the World Cup. Their selection will depend on their form during the IPL 2024.
