IND vs AFG: India Will Host Afghanistan For A Three ODI Series In June Following The WTC Final

India will host Afghanistan in a 3-match ODI series in June as a preparation for the Asia Cup and ICC Cricket World Cup later this year. This series will immediately follow the World Test Championship final against Australia in the second week of the month.

India National Cricket Team already has a tight schedule this year. Only a few days after IPL ends, the team will go to England for the one-off WTC final. Then the home series against AFG.

This will be followed by a 2 Test, 3 ODI, and 5 T20 series tour to the West Indies in July-August. At the end of August, India will play a 3-T20 series against Ireland.

Then comes the big guns. ODI format Asia Cup will take place in Pakistan (and possibly another location) in September. Australia will then tour India for a 3 T20, 5 ODI series right before the ODI World Cup in October-November.

The Afghanistan series will provide team India with 3 additional opportunities to choose and prepare players for the World Cup.

Afghanistan recently defeated in a bilateral series for the first time

Afghanistan recently toured Pakistan for a 3-match T20 series, winning it by 2-1. This marked the first instant in the nation’s cricketing history that they defeated the Men in Green in a bilateral series.

Despite Pakistan fielding a younger team, with big names like Babar Azam, Mohammad, Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi missing, A win for Afghanistan over their neighbors is something they will cherish for a long time.

The Afghans restricted Pak to just 92 in the first match, a total they chased down easily. Their win in the second match was also relatively comfortable. These two matches confirmed that AFG had won the series, despite a big 66-run loss in the third match.

Afghanistan, who have already qualified for the World Cup, will look at these three matches as preparation for the big tournament later this year.
