He alongside Virat Kohli stitched 165 runs for the fourth wicket after India was reduced to 2/3 in the first two overs.

Ravi Shastri was in awe of KL Rahul’s innings against Australia and he compared it to ‘Butter on a Toast’. Shastri’s food analogy would have definitely increased the batter’s appetite for runs in this World Cup. He described Rahul’s innings as ‘enjoyable to watch from outside’.

While offering his insights during a review of the game on Star Sports, Ravi Shastri expressed his admiration for Rahul’s sublime batting display. Shastri commented, “Maska, malai – the way he was batting it was enjoyable to watch from outside. He went forward or back and was never caught in no-man’s land. He played one or two shots against Zampa where the ball had already gone past him.”

The former Indian all-rounder went on to commend Rahul for his ability to consistently find gaps and time his shots with precision. Shastri remarked, “The wicketkeeper was about to catch the ball and he hit the ball on its head for a four. If you see the wagon wheel, he scored runs everywhere and extremely easily. Chanceless innings, fluent innings, and timing was special.”

During his outstanding innings, Rahul showcased his prowess by striking eight boundaries and two impressive sixes. He played a pivotal role in the match by forging a remarkable 165-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Virat Kohli, coming to the crease when India faced a dire situation at 2/3.

India will now move to Delhi where they will face Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitely Stadium on 11th October. India will try to get maximum momentum before they face Pakistan in Ahmedabad on 14th October and a game against Afghanistan will give them a pretty good practice for their upcoming challenge against the arch-rivals.
