Pakistan test coach Jason Gillespie has given his verdict on the upcoming IND vs AUS Tests. The buzz for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 is already electric, with fans and cricketers eagerly awaiting a high-stakes showdown between India and Australia later this year.

Both teams boast formidable line-ups, promising intense competition in the five-match Test series. Australia’s elite bowling attack and India’s dynamic batters set the stage for a thrilling clash in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.

Jason Gillespie predicts Australian domination in Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 against India

Amidst the exciting buzz for the upcoming Test series, Jason Gillespie, former Australian pacer and Pakistan’s current head coach in Tests, has made a bold prediction that the Indian cricket team will return home empty from their upcoming Test tour.

Jason Gillespie has expressed strong confidence in Australia’s premier bowling attack, saying the captain Pat Cummins, senior pacer Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and premier spinner Nathan Lyon are very much equipped to challenge the formidable batting line-up of the Indian cricket team.

The Pakistan head coach said that the current Australian bowling combination has shown that they are better than the previous attacks and their great stats show their potential, so he is fully behind the hosts to stun India and win back the Boder-Gavaskar Trophy after almost a decade.

Team India had crushed Australia in their last two tours in 2018-19 and 2020-21 and also won the series at home last year. Now, Rohit Sharma and his army are aiming for a hat-trick of Test series wins on Australian soil, but Jason Gillespie feels it is Australia’s time to dominate the Indians.

Jason Gillespie backs Australia to beat India in the upcoming Test series

The former pacer has pointed out that the Australian bowlers are in great form and believes that they have a good chance of beating India in the upcoming five-match Test series.

Jason Gillespie told Fox Sports: “I will be backing them to do the job. They are the best bowlers in the country. I think their records speak for themselves. This quartet is the best possible bowling attack that Australia can put out in the park. They are red-hot; they have been playing some good test cricket for a while now. Even though they have beaten Australia in recent times. I think Australia has a chance to beat India this time around.”

Meanwhile, there's significant debate about whether Steve Smith should continue as an opener for Australia or return to the middle order. Gillespie believes that Smith should ideally bat at No. 4 for the Australian team in Test cricket.

Jason Gillespie added, “Players like David Warner are pretty tough to replace. I didn’t mind the idea of Steve going up in the order. I have a feeling that he might have slotted back in the middle order to bat at 4.”

Gillespie shares disappointment over his poor start to international coaching career

On the other hand, Gillespie's international coaching debut with Pakistan faced a shocking setback as the team was handed an embarrassing 0-2 defeat by Bangladesh in their recent home Test series.

The Pakistan head coach admitted that the whitewash against Bangladesh has led to widespread disappointment, but there is also an acceptance of the need for change and patience.

The coach signed off by saying, “It was pretty disappointing; you want to win games at cricket. We prepared well, but we were just beaten by a better team. We got a lot of work to do, and there is no doubt about that. There was a lot of disappointment around the country, but there was also an acceptance and understanding that change is needed. We need to be patient. There is a real appetite for stability; hopefully, we can secure that.”
