India National Cricket Team head coach Rahul Dravid has provided a massive update on the availability of the 24-year-old opening batsman Shubman Gill for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 clash against Australia National Cricket Team.

The Men In Blue will lock horns with the Australia National Cricket Team on Sunday, October 8, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai. Ahead of the match, India were handed a massive blow as Gill got diagnosed with dengue fever and reports claimed that he could miss up to two matches for the side.

However, at a pre-match press conference, Rahul Dravid said that Gill is feeling better and is not yet ruled out of the clash against Australia. He said:

“He’s feeling better today and the medical team is monitoring on a day-to-day basis. We will take a call on him later. The medical team hasn’t ruled him out yet. We’ll see how he feels the day after tomorrow.”

In case Gill fails to recover, India are likely to include Ishan Kishan in the playing XI and the young batter will partner captain Rohit Sharma at the top of the order.

Rahul Dravid further said that the teams will have to adapt to different conditions during the World Cup in India and properly execute their plans to win the tournament. He said:

“I don’t think this World Cup will be decided on how well you read the pitches but how well you play and execute their plans. Teams will have to adapt to different conditions, teams, pitches.”
