Rishabh Pant will be one of India's most important players in the upcoming five-match Test series against Australia. After the humiliating whitewash in the three-match Test series at home against New Zealand, the Rohit Sharma-led side will be desperate to bounce back.
India's chance of qualifying for the World Test Championship (WTC) final is hanging by a thread. They need to win the upcoming series by a margin of 4-0 to storm into the WTC final for the third time in a row. And there is absolutely no doubt that Rishabh Pant will have to be at his absolute best if India is eyeing a third straight Test series victory in Australia.

Another top-order collapse from India in the intra-squad match
While most of India's batters struggled against New Zealand, Pant had a terrific series. He finished the series as the highest run-scorer, scoring 261 runs in 3 games with the help of 3 half-centuries.
Pant will be eyeing a similar impact against Australia as well. However, the star batsman has not started his sojourn in Australia on a good note. According to reports, he was dismissed cheaply in the ongoing intra-squad game at the WACA. He could score only 19 runs before being clean-bowled by Nitish Reddy.

Rishabh Pant's terrific record in Australia:
Rishabh Pant has a brilliant record in Tests in Australia. The left-handed batsman averages more than 60 in Tests Down Under. The wicketkeeper-batsman has played seven Tests in Australia so far. In 12 innings, he has scored 624 runs at an average of 62.40 with the help of one century and two half-centuries.
His solitary Test century in Australia came in the 2019 Sydney Test when he played an unbeaten knock of 159 runs. In his last Test innings in Australia, Pant played an unbeaten knock of 89 runs that ended Australia’s 32-year undefeated run in Brisbane.
Pant the lone warrior for India in Tests
Rishabh has done extremely well in Tests so far and the onus will be on him to deliver in the crucial series. With senior pros such as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli struggling with form, Pant will be keen to lead India's charge with the bat.
Meanwhile, the five-Test series will be starting next week. The first Test between India and Australia will be played on November 22 in Perth.
