Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell shared his views on the battle between Virat Kohli and Steve Smith during the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Glenn Maxwell described Virat Kohli and Steve Smith as two of the finest players of this generation, adding that it's pretty exciting to watch them.

India and Australia will play the five-match Test series later this year. The first Test match will be held in Perth, starting on November 22.

Adelaide will host the day-night fixture during the series. The last three matches in the series will be played in Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney, respectively.

Australia will be hoping to end their losing streak against India in Test matches on home soil. The Australian team hasn't won a Test series against India since the 2014-15 series.

Notably, India has won four consecutive Border-Gavaskar Trophies, including two historic victories on Australian soil.

One Of Those Two Is Going To Make A Lot Of Runs - Glenn Maxwell

In a video shared by Star Sports on X (formerly known as Twitter), Glenn Maxwell stated that one of Virat Kohli or Steve Smith will likely score big in the BGT 2024-25 series, if not both.

Glenn Maxwell said that it will be an exciting series to watch as they will showcase their dominance.

"I think probably the way that the two superstar batters, I think Steve Smith and Virat Kohli, probably head-to-head, seeing how their dominance, I suppose, is asserted in the series, and how much of an influence that has on who takes home the Border Gavaskar trophy," Glenn Maxwell said.

"I think one of those two is going to make a lot of runs if not both of them. And it's going to be pretty exciting to watch the two of the finest players of our generation go head-to-head," he added.

Steve Smith and Virat Kohli are the best players for their teams. Kohli has an impressive record in Australia, with 1,352 runs in 13 Tests at an average of 54.08, including six centuries.

Smith, on the other hand, has amassed 2,042 Test runs against India at an average of 65.87, including nine centuries.

Smith has scored 9,685 runs in 109 Tests at an average of 56.97 with 32 centuries and 41 half-centuries.

Meanwhile, Virat has scored 8,848 runs in 113 Tests at an average of 49.16 with 29 centuries and 30 half-centuries. Both players are crucial for their teams in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
