Former Australian cricketer Brad Hogg talked about the Indian players who need to stand up for the team in the game against Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup 2024. He said that skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shivam Dube need to step up for the side.

India will be taking on Bangladesh in their second game of the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup 2024. The match will be played at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Antigua and Barbuda on Saturday (22nd June). A win in the match will make the Rohit Sharma-led side's position strong for the semi-final.

The game against Bangladesh will be a great opportunity for some of the key Indian players to get their form right and head into the next stage of the tournament high on confidence. The top two in Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been short of runs in the tournament.

Therefore they would be keen to make an impact with the bat in the game and get some runs under their belt. Along with them, Shivam Dube would be also desperate to get some runs as he too hasn't been able to make the mark that he would've wanted.

While talking about the game between India and Bangladesh, Brad Hogg backed the Rohit Sharma-led side to win the game easily. But he stressed the need for captain Rohit and Virat Kohli to get some runs before heading into the semi-final of the tournament. Speaking in a video posted on his X handle, he explained:

"India taking on Bangladesh in Antigua tonight should be an easy win for the team in blue, but there are three players that need to stand up. Rohit Sharma the captain, has been playing some expansive shots of late and getting out too easily. He's got to slightly tighten up a little bit and play the beautiful game that we normally see him play, just use exquisite timing. He's trying to overhit the ball.

"The Virat Kohli, yes he looked okay in the last fixture, but still needs to get a score on the board as they come to the semi-finals, just to have that confidence. Left-armers are troubling outside the off stump and he got caught in the deep against spin, mistiming a shot the other night as well. So Virat has to stand up and the opening pair really have to take advantage in the power playovers in Antigua as well, where it can slow up in those middle overs."

Indian camp might have to think about bringing Sanju Samson in, replacing Dube-Brad Hogg

Brad Hogg also talked about the poor form of Shivam Dube in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. He believes that if the left-hander failed to set the stage on fire in a game against Bangladesh then Sanju Samson might replace him in the next game. He stated:

"Dube is in the middle, this could be his last opportunity. If he does not ignite against Bangladesh, the Indian camp might have to think about bringing Sanju Samson in, replacing Dube, because he's not really having a big effect as such at the moment. So watch out for those three players for India tonight to find a little bit of form," he concluded.
