Veteran Indian offspinner Harbhajan Singh expressed delight with wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul’s batting performances in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. Harbhajan Singh hoped KL Rahul would remain fit for the much-awaited ODI World Cup 2023, as he is in sublime form.
KL Rahul scored 39 runs off 44 deliveries on a spin-friendly surface at the R. Premadasa Stadium against Sri Lanka on Tuesday, September 12. Rahul also took on wicketkeeping duties and grabbed a brilliant catch behind the stumps to dismiss Charith Asalanka.
Hope KL Rahul Does Not Get Injured – Harbhajan Singh
In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Harbhajan Singh said that it appeared like KL Rahul was playing on a different pitch. He also highlighted the importance of Rahul’s partnership with Ishan Kishan after the quick wickets.
“Ishan Kishan’s partnership with Ishan Kishan was crucial. I hope I don’t jinx it, but KL Rahul is playing really really well. I hope he does not get injured or something. He is scoring runs in a sublime fashion and it did not look like he was playing on the same pitch as the other batters,” Harbhajan said.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first. Rohit and Shubman Gill added an 80-run partnership for the opening wicket. Young spinner Dunith Wellalage picked up three wickets, restricting the opposition to 91/3. Rahul and Ishan added 63 runs for the fourth wicket.

The cricketer-turned-commentator lauded Rohit Sharma for his exceptional performance on a challenging pitch, emphasizing that he appears to be in superb form leading up to the 2023 ODI World Cup.
“Rohit Sharma played brilliantly on a sluggish surface and looks in excellent touch ahead of the 2023 ODI World Cup. He played well against Pakistan and now against Sri Lanka as well.”
Rohit Sharma was the top run-scorer in the match, amassing 53 runs from 48 deliveries. He achieved the significant milestone of 10,000 ODI runs, becoming the second-fastest player to reach this feat in the history of ODIs.
With their victory against Sri Lanka, Team India has secured a spot in the 2023 Asia Cup finals scheduled for September 17. The Men in Blue will take on Bangladesh in their upcoming match on Friday, September 15.
