India National Cricket Team off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin lavished massive praise on premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah ahead of the Test series against Bangladesh. He said that the fast bowler is the most valuable Indian cricketer right now.

Jasprit Bumrah arguably is one of the greatest players to have played for the Indian National Cricket Team. The impact that he has made for the team in all three formats is something that not many have done, and it's because of him that Indian bowling is so strong these days.

Bumrah is the main reason behind India's success in the Tests overseas, and his effort in white-ball cricket has been so immense that even if there are around 10 runs to defend in the last over, the favorites will be the Indian team because of their diamond category pacer.

Bumrah, who picked 20 wickets in the ODI World Cup 2023, made sure that he helped India National Cricket Team win the T20 World Cup 2024 as well. He was the MVP of the team in the tournament and ended up winning the Player of the Tournament award because of his heroics.

Bumrah picked 15 wickets at an average of 8.26 and helped his team end the title drought and win the first-ever ICC title after 2013. He helped the India National Cricket Team win the games from even losing positions, which was the standout feature of his bowling.

Ravichandran Ashwin, who will be teaming up with Bumrah in the Test series against Bangladesh, expressed his delight that in a batsman-dominated country, the pacer is getting celebrated. While calling him a once-in-a-generation bowler, he said people should celebrate him more. Speaking to journalist Vimal Kumar, he explained:

"India has always been the country that is batsman-dominated, and it’s never going to change. But I am so glad and happy that we are celebrating Jasprit Bumrah. Jasprit Bumrah is a once-in-a-generation bowler. We should celebrate him even more."

Ravichandran Ashwin further pointed out how people in Chennai gave a grand welcome to Bumrah during an event. He stressed that the pacer should be treated as a champion and is currently the most valuable cricketer for the team. He added:

"We Chennai people appreciate bowlers a lot. He was here for an event as a chief guest 4-5 days ago. We gave him a Rajni treatment. We (Chennai people) treat bowlers very nicely. He should be treated as a champion. I don’t want to name it, but Jasprit Bumrah is the most valuable Indian cricketer right now.”

Bumrah has joined the India National Cricket Team for the Test series against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team. The series between the two teams will get underway on 19th September at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. This will be the first game for him after the T20 World Cup 2024 and he would be keen to make an impact for his team.
